The first contact chamber improvement is on all sizes of our ‘lobster cages,’ as they are affectionately known. Our Pool/Spa dealers know them as CC-STL, CC-STS and CC-STxS (for surge tank or gutter systems) and our Industrial dealers know them as CC-ITL, CC-ITM and CC-ITS. The bungees that hold the door shut now have easy to grip handles, making them more easily and more quickly opened and shut. It’s also much less likely that fingers will get pinched in the process. These units are also being produced with stainless steel clamps.
Lastly, for our residential pool/spa dealers, CWS plans to stock one size of the Custom Molded Products Power Clean Max (15lb) for use with PoolMoss® on residential pools up to 40,000 gallons. It is a heavier duty contact chamber than the Waterway vessels we currently carry and it comes with a base, flow meter and shut off valve, standard. As always, install such that 2-10 gpm flow is achieved and do not install within 18 inches of the outflow of a chlorinator. We highly recommend installing before the filter. When these are available (mid-June says the manufacturer) an updated price list and installation instructions will be sent to residential product dealers. Contact Charity for more information.
For high temperature (200 F) and high pressure (150 psi) industrial applications, we had our first stainless CC-I80 produced in March. It has a capacity of three ProMoss™ 3 and the ability to treat hot water or glycol loops up to 4,500 gallons and cold water loops up to 9,000 gallons. It is available with or without ASME certification, depending on your customer’s requirements. Contact me for details about pricing and lead times.
To serve other more typical industrial systems, CWS and some dealers have been working on using ProMoss™ 4 in some standard 2 and 5 gallon pot feeders. To ensure the ProMoss™ 4 doesn’t get sucked through the outflow, we are trialing a miniature nylon suction strainer from the McMaster-Carr catalog on the outflow. (shown in photo). We also tested with a particulate filter installed (shown in photo) as is recommended for systems that don’t already have filtration. The system we are testing in house is made by Vector Industries.
The system we are testing in house is made by Vector Industries. Maximum capacity may vary by pot feeder type. We have found the following:
2 gallon pot feeder
- Maximum capacity: 15 ProMoss™ 4
- Maximum capacity when filter is installed: 12 ProMoss™ 4
- Chill water system: up to 1950 gallons
- Hot water or Glycol system: up to 975 gallons
- Ideal flow rate range: 5-15 gpm
5 gallon pot feeder
- Maximum capacity: 40 ProMoss™ 4
- Maximum capacity when filter is installed: 32 ProMoss™ 4
- Chill water system: up to 5200 gallons
- Hot water or Glycol system: up to 2600 gallons
- Ideal flow rate range: 5-15 gpm
If the pot feeder is still used for dispensing chemicals, the ProMoss™ must be removed and not put back into the pot feeder until ALL chemical has been completely washed out of the feeder for best results.
