30 Day Review:

Throughout the past month, ISI Water Chemistries has been working with a large plastics manufacturer to improve water treatment in their cooling system, including the B11 Chiller Cooling Tower, and the B11 Chilled Water. Already, drastic improvements have been made in the cooling tower water, including significant decreases in dissolved metals, and large changes in turbidity and improved clarity. Improvements, and the important future steps to further optimize the cooling tower water treatment program are highlighted in the document below.

Chilled water treatment has shown marked improvement as well, including drops in dissolved metals, and turbidity changes. More time is still needed however, to identify the best course of action and truly understand the ideal way to treat this system. Advancements in treatment, and future plans for this system are outlined in the document below.

Do you know how Creative Water Solutions got started? The story may be familiar to some but there also may be some interesting new information for you to share with your clients.
It all started on an airplane. Or rather, a magazine article read on an airplane by Dr. David Knighton, Co-founder of Creative Water Solutions. David was reading an article in Atlantic Monthly about Sphagnum moss being used to treat soldiers’ wounds in WWI. It specifically stated that the soldier’s wounds that were being treated with Sphagnum moss were healing much faster. Given his profession as a doctor, he theorized that there must be antimicrobial properties to the moss.

The 2019 World Aquatic Health Conference was held in Williamsburg, VA on October 16-18 and it continues to be the premier science and education conference of the aquatic industry.  My presentation on “Health Effects of Disinfection Byproducts (DBP) & Strategies to Reduce Exposure” was just one of many talks about disinfection byproducts in recreational water and the surrounding air.  Again this year, there were numerous presentations about the importance of maintaining water and air quality.  Another important topic at the conference was the control of recreational water illness’ (RWI) such as cryptosporidium and legionella.
