30 Day Review:

November 22, 2019 By CreativeWater

By: Jess Sadler, ISI Water Chemistries

30 Day Review:

Throughout the past month, ISI Water Chemistries has been working with a large plastics manufacturer to improve water treatment in their cooling system, including the B11 Chiller Cooling Tower, and the B11 Chilled Water. Already, drastic improvements have been made in the cooling tower water, including significant decreases in dissolved metals, and large changes in turbidity and improved clarity. Improvements, and the important future steps to further optimize the cooling tower water treatment program are highlighted in the document below.

Chilled water treatment has shown marked improvement as well, including drops in dissolved metals, and turbidity changes. More time is still needed however, to identify the best course of action and truly understand the ideal way to treat this system. Advancements in treatment, and future plans for this system are outlined in the document below.

Market segmentation

August 20, 2019 By CreativeWater

By: Rick Carlson, Director of Sales and Marketing

The concept of segmenting the market or defining a market segment may appear academic, but it is probably the most important tool in identifying evolving opportunities that can grow the revenues of a company.  The reason for this is that the more focus that you can create in your promotional messages and sales campaigns, the more likely you are to influence the customer and deliver messages that resonate with decision makers.  In our world, we are all beginning to see market segments developing from the efforts of CWS dealers that can benefit all dealers selling ProMoss™.   Some recent examples include auto manufacturing, bottling plants, data centers, high tech and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Within these markets, dealers have been further segmenting the markets by focusing on applications like cooling towers, air washers and waste water systems.  In the next two years, CWS will be working with dealer organizations to define the most productive market segments for ProMossTM and attempt to identify the major players and the primary reasons for choosing ProMossTM over traditional chemicals.  We encourage each of you to map the market segments that you are focusing on.

Natural Moss Replaces 80% of Chemicals in RTP Cooling Towers

>Read article on Biogen website

  • Moss cleans towers and removes scale and corrosion, projected to save nearly 1.5 million gallons of water annually
  • Projected to reduce chemical use by approximately 6,000 pounds
  • Opportunity to scale results at other Biogen facilities

Seventy-five hundred pounds of chemicals and millions of gallons of water annually. That’s what it took to keep the cooling towers at our Research Triangle Park (RTP) facilities clear of scale (mineral buildup), corrosion and bacteria.

ProMoss™ Treatment of Semi-Closed Loop

April 17, 2019 By CreativeWater

By: Jess Sadler, ISI Water Chemistries

>Read full article:

ProMoss™ was added to the system 8 Nov 2018. An initial spike in iron occurred and filters were changed frequently. This was a result of existing iron deposits and organic contamination being liberated and put into suspension. The system was flushed for two weeks which is represented by the large reduction in iron levels from early to mid-December. Iron levels continue to trend down.

The water cleared up with reduced turbidity. Foaming, likely caused by organic contamination, has been nearly eliminated and total hardness continues to decrease withProMoss™ treatment.

Used bags of ProMoss™ show the iron that has been absorbed from the loop water.

Chemistry Based Water Treatment WITHOUT Chemicals

February 25, 2019 By CreativeWater

> Read February newsletter:

By: Fred Shurtz, President, Precision Chemical, Boonville, IN

Background:  The first cooling tower we beganProMoss™ treatment with was at a tubing rolling mill in Indiana that had dirty water returning to a sump pit and out to the cooling tower.  They had some issues getting water to the controller and they had not been blowing down the tower for the past 3 months (not our fault, but the customer has not fixed the issue).

Results: We began usingProMoss™ (and no other chemicals) at the end of September.  After two months, the water was completely clear, yet the conductivity is 5,500 mmhos.  As of the end of January, they still did not have any blow down on this system and our testing on January 29 had the ATP at 60 RLU and the water looks great.

In January, we began treating the mill’s other tower and their corporate team was so impressed with the results that they had us survey another plant in Kentucky in early February.
