The cooling water in a food processing facility in Illinois was treated with a traditional scale/corrosion inhibiting blend along with an oxidizing biocide, a non-oxidizing biocide, a bio-dispersant, and a defoamer. There was heavy contamination of the cooling water from the process systems which was leading to extreme organic contamination and foaming (see Figure 1).
We added ProMoss™ to the equation. The water began to clear up within a matter of hours. Within a month it was crystal clear (see Figure 2). There was no new microbial growth and the existing organic contamination slowly dried out and broke away. We then started taking the chemicals one by one out of the equation until we were down to just an oxidizing biocide with ProMoss™ for treatment.
